5 ways to sharpen your self-discipline

  1. Pay attention to the areas in which you already have good self-discipline. What are you doing right in those areas?

  2. Work with a partner and hold each other accountable.

  3. Focus on the benefits of being disciplined, rather than the "pain."

  4. Don't make exceptions -- not even once. Exceptions lead to ruin (for example, when quitting smoking, one cigarette can wipe out months of progress).

  5. Start small and build up. If you want to start getting up 1 hour earlier, get up 10 minutes earlier for a few days, then gradually build up to an hour.
